The Matsiko World Orphan Choir from Liberia have released their debut single, Through These Eyes. The song was written for the choir by Mark Lee Hegarty and Al Steele, with vocals recorded in Liberia and mixed at Shabbey Road Studios in Caerphilly, Wales (UK).
The song celebrates how the children optimistically see the world; they see “hope, purpose, and surprise”, adding “I will never hide!”
The artwork has been designed by Welsh graphic designer Alex Griffith, who has been working closely with Reel Stories founder Mark Lee Hegarty. This is the first in a series of designs built around images of choir members, combining the vibrancy of Liberia and embracing the choir’s powerful, positive energy. This artwork features choir member Jessica.
Filmed entirely by choir members in Liberia, featuring Monrovia’s beautiful coastline, it showcases the beauty and vibrant spirit of Liberia and its people.
