The Matsiko World Orphan Choir’s new song, “You Are My God”, was released just as the choir headed out for their 133-day tour of the USA.
Inspired by a conversation with Matsiko Children International President Don Windham about his faith and witnessing Christianity’s strength in the USA and among Liberian choir members, Reel Stories Founder Mark Lee Hegarty felt compelled to write a song celebrating that love.
Alongside Liberian Producer Sir Duke Farnborde, he wrote the song “You Are My God” whilst helping the choir prepare for their 10th tour of the USA.
The song was written to help showcase Faith Tutu Collins’ singing ability, who provides lead vocals on the track.
Mark Lee is working with Jazz musicians and friends Amina Figarova and Bart Platteau to try and obtain a musical scholarship for Faith in New Orleans as, he says, “it would be a crime to humanity if this young lady’s vocal talents are not trained and shared globally”.
The music video features the new choir members who will be touring the USA to give 1,000 children living in poverty a chance to go to school.
The single artwork continues the vibrant Liberian theme and is built around an image of lead vocalist, Faith.
