Matsiko Choir’s Global Collaboration Hits #2 on Charts

This week, the single ‘Rise’, a collaboration between UK Dance Producer/DJs Black Sonix and Sean McCabe with The Matsiko World Orphan Choir, hit #2 on the Soulful House Chart.

The collaboration came about after Reel Stories Founder Mark Lee Hegarty approached Justin Stride (Black Sonix) asking him if he could remix part of a song the Matsiko World Orphan Choir kids would sing when they were having fun.

He recorded it in Seattle, and Justin immediately got to work with long-time collaborator Sean McCabe, which eventually resulted in the track “Rise” – released on the Good Vibrations label in August.

Mark Lee explained, “The aim of this collaboration is to introduce Matsiko World Orphan Choir to a brand new audience, who can enjoy the music, witness the talent, and hopefully become interested in getting involved with the organization. The ultimate goal is to try and get 10,000 of the world’s poorest, most vulnerable children into school, as an effective way to break the cycle of poverty and prevent child trafficking.”

To support the release of the single, the choir filmed a music video at home in Liberia.
